So, I used to love this game, and I'm normally not so critical when it comes to games, but this was my favorite and it felt like one of the only actual good games on modern Roblox. I have 218 hours spent on it within the past couple years. This game had a dedicated fanbase full of speedrunners, and they infact leaned into the speedrunning aspect at first, hosting tournaments in their server, and I have spent *hours* mastering all of the shortcuts. It was my favorite game to play with my friends when we had nothing else to do. Anyways, starting sometime last year the game had slowly started dwindling. It's just stale now. They have updated it to where most shortcuts are defunct, there are either kill boxes on each one, or spaced out/built to where you can't do it anymore. It seems that the creator of the game has underestimated how stale the gameplay gets just following the intended course over and over again. The fun of this game was figuring out all of the shortcuts, and over the span of a year after their major update they have focused on nothing but phasing out shortcuts and aesthetic changes. Granted they have added a couple more maps since the update, but all of them just feel babyproofed, they patch every single skip that could be possible. No new gameplay features were brought to the table over the span of a year, and infact, it feels to me like they have intentionally made maps easier solely to cut out the shortcuts. You could argue that it's to make the game more fair, but mind you there is no real reward for winning other than around 20 seconds of seeing your username on the pedestal before the next round starts. Nearly the entire player base has dwindled since it was mostly speedrunners, I have seen the player count go as low as 60, and I haven't seen it break 300 in months. This game used to have thousands of players before the update, and the speedrunner fanbase is genuinely nonexistent now. Just two days after the major update I had seen the player count drop by hundreds, every lobby I had gone to was just people complaining, and there was pushback I feel they had ample time to react to and roll back. I believe just yesterday they decided to push out the update they've claimed is their final update, and it just feels like they've completely abandoned their only consistent playerbase in favor of updates they think are best for the game, when in reality there is no real demand to play anymore for most players who eventually want to do more than just run the same exact intended course over and over again. Maybe if they had been doing more than just rearranging maps and changing things aesthetically I would've kept playing frequently, but it feels like every update they had pushed out was meant to cut out features enjoyed by most of the community. It got boring, and after playing the final update, it's worse than it was 6 months ago and I can't say I'll ever want to play again.
